Jimmy Connors Tennis

Company: Blue Byte
Year: 1993
Rating:
Blue Byte has really milked every drop they could from the Jimmy Connors license. I think there are more ports of this game than any other. The gameboy version is very good although not very exciting. It has good graphics and play control, but it gets boring pretty fast. And you will go insane from the ingame music!

Rating:
Not a fun game. Basically try to lob it over the guys head and hope he does not get back in time to get it. At least Mario is in the umpire's chair.
Top Rank Tennis

Company: Nintendo
Year: 1993
Rating:
The play control is the best part of this game in that you get four different strokes to choose from by utilizing the start and select buttons. There are actually a lot of options and replay value in this game so it is definitely a winner.

All-Star Tennis 2000

Company: Ubi Soft
Year: 2000
Rating:
This is a solid tennis game for Gameboy Color. There are a lot of professional tennis players to choose from, and it has good play control. The sound is typical gameboy except that when the crowd cheers after every point it sounds like the an ocean wave crashing onto the beach.
Lion King: Simba's Mighty Adventure

Company: Activision
Year: 2000
Rating:
What the heck is the Lion King doing on this page? Just to show how thorough this site is, I even play Disney video games to find all the tennis games out there! This is really not a tennis game since the whole point is just to keep the ball in play for as long as you can. Pumbaa never misses. You just get a score for how many times you hit the ball back. I guess it is entertaining for kids, but I really hate Pumbaa now.
Mario Tennis

Company: Nintendo
Year: 2000
Rating:
This is not as much fun as the Nintendo 64 version. The graphics is where it is lacking the most. The court does not look smooth at all, and the characters look like they are black and white with one color thrown overtop. The animation is good though, and the play control is solid.
Snoopy Tennis

Company: Infogrames
Year: 2001
Rating:
Snoopy Tennis rocks! Great characters to choose from, good play control and the animations are pretty funny. Snoopy bangs his racket on the court when he loses a point and he plays his racket like a guitar when he wins.

Tennis no Oji-Sama: Aim at the Victory

Tennis no Oji-Sama: Cool Blue

Tennis no Oji-Sama: Passion Red

Company: Konami
Year: 2003
Rating:

This is an awesome tennis game. I might give it the ever elusive fourth tennis ball if I could understand the game. I need to learn to read Japanese. Great play control although there is not a whole lot you can do with the ball, unless of course you mention the street fighter type special shots complete with cut scenes. You can even taunt the other player which really makes me wish I could understand Japanese. I am also confused by the four different versions of the game. The tennis part of all of them seem to be the same but some add more drama than the others in between matches.

Wario Ware Inc.

Company: Nintendo
Year: 2003
Rating:
Once again showing the thoroughness with which I am trying to achieve we have a Wario game that is actually hundreds of mini games, one of which is tennis. Basically, the screen flashes "Rally" and you have to hit the ball back once. And then later in the game the screen flashes "Rally" and you have to hit the ball back twice. Good Times.
